Vinted Shoppers Share Displeasure Over Sizing Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Social Media Reaction

Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.

The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Updates

Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Stories

One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Service Background

The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
