The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent action-packed instalment that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for embracing chaos and mayhem with equal excitement, all while weaving gripping, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose work have exemplified all of those elements.

What to Expect

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game series, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' style by introducing a new setting and ensemble in each season.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX partners always encourages me with their ongoing trust and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a take of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of society through this complex and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and bring our common bold, ambitious approach to the screen.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
